ABOUT KINDRED COLLABORATIVE
“Christian has modeled how to pray for God’s favor and run hard after goals. And how to offer the highest quality care for those you serve. She is passionate about having each other’s backs, and cheering on each other’s successes. I’m so excited for the business training.”
Did you know:
Most birth professionals don't receive any business training! And the average burn out rate of a doula is 2 years! I remember once, being on call, charging less than the cost of childcare, gas, and food. I had no idea what my overhead was, how hard it was on my family to be gone for so long and to come home with very little to show for it. But I was doing what I loved so I didn’t think it mattered much.
“People need what I have to offer,” I kept telling myself, “One day the world will see how important doulas are; they will want my services and go to great lengths to make it happen!” Guess what? That never happened, sure people were immensely grateful for what I had done for them, referred all their friends to me and I am truly grateful I helped the families that I did. However, under charging wasn’t the solution to changing the birthing industry, and it wasn’t sustainable. I was burning out, being on call so much wasn't realistic for my season of life, so I set out to become an educator. I wrote my own childbirth curriculum, and love teaching it!!! I’m so so passionate about it, I can talk about placentas, and contractions, and vaginas until I’m blue in the face…. But I STILL wasn’t running a business, it was running me!
I have been a doula for 13 years and a childbirth educator for over 9. Just over 7 years ago I realized I was making some HUGE mistakes in my business. Emotional decisions that were getting me close to burn out and away from my goals. I implemented some amazing tools that took my passion that made some hobby money, to a career, and grew my income by 5x times in one year! All while raising and homeschooling three kids, and managing a home. Because of this journey I have taken a personal interest in helping birth workers develop their passion, hone their skills, and run a business that doesn't run them at whatever pace makes the most sense for the season of life they are in.
The vision for Kindred has been a long time dream of mine, a place where professionals gather together and use each others own individual successes to help others become more successful and in turn generate more success for themselves. I have always had a great desire to create a space for authentic community that strengthens women’s bonds to one another. I firmly believe we are better together, stronger together, and immeasurably more successful together.
And thus, Kindred Collaborative was born!

Core Values
Inclusive:
Kindred Collaborative Trainees/Doulas/Educators/leaders (Referred to as Kindred Collaborative members KCM from here forward) demonstrate excellence in teaming together (when teaming is appropriate).
Members look for opportunities to connect with others and be supportive.
Each member strives to work cohesively with other members and the group as a whole; gossiping, undermining, and instigating conflict with members of the group or other birth professionals outside of Kindred Collaborative isn’t tolerated.
Kindred Collaborative understands that members will have different beliefs and convictions, and we welcome that, remembering to be kind.
Building a legacy:
KCM work to build a legacy for future generations of mothers and babies. We do this by:
Providing quality information with all the facts and options for informed decision making
Encouraging mother’s to trust their bodies and instincts
Helping women make guilt free decisions
Equipping them to embrace pregnancy and motherhood rather than fear it.
Helping families thrive not just survive pregnancy, labor, postpartum & motherhood through: education, support, and quality birth professional services.
Integrity:
Kindred Collaborative values working in a way that demonstrates clear lines of integrity.
Members take steps to legitimize their businesses, carrying the proper licenses and insurances to insure quality services and ethical behavior.
We work aggressively to establish and maintain excellent relationships with hospitals, nurses, doctors, birth centers and midwives. Always practicing within our scope of practice and not undermining medical professionals.
